Four Beaches

Yesterday we took a day trip to Coos Bay.
We were going to shop for furniture because ours is not very comfortable.
Something kept pulling us away from the furniture stores!
We took a "side trip" through Charleston. (Which is south of Coos Bay.)
We discoved one beach we had never seen before.
It was very easy to walk down to.
(Something we are beginning to appreciate!)
Then we found a beach we had seen when we visited here
eight years ago. At that time we thought it would be a
PERFECT PLACE
to have a family reunion.
Above is a picture of Cape Arago.
Below is a little beach that we thought
would be perfect for the smaller grandkids to play.
It is in a small inlet on the Cape.
Can't you see Kaylee and Cardon and Katie building sand castles here?
There is a camp ground just to the east of this little beach.
This is the driveway to Jose and Wendy's new house.

This is Bullard's Beach. It is just about a mile and a half from
that driveway! How cool is that?!!

Another easy walk!

This was our first time seeing Bullard State Park.
What a very beautiful place.
It felt a bit like being in New Mexico with a
b-e-a-c-h!
When we returned to Port Orford we went by one of our favorite beaches.
This beach is near our friend R.J.'s house.
Is there any place more beautiful to watch the sun set?

(David get down here with your photography talent!)

A beautiful end to the day for sea lovers!

OUR FIRST CRAB FEST !

Last night we had our first taste or Oregon Coast Crab!
I don't want to make anyone jealous, but it was DELICIOUS, to say the least!
Our friend Joan Abbey went down to the docks and "put in her crab pots" and...
VOILA...a crab fest!
Eating crab is a bit like unwrapping a Christmas present...it takes a bit of work
but it is so worth it after the effort!

CHOOSE YOUR WEAPONS!
I think my spouse is a "pro" at attacking a crab leg, he could
actually effectively use his finders. I found the
kitchen shears to be the most help.
I could not believe I would actually dip something in butter
and not even worry about the calories!!!
Crab without butter would be like cake without icing!!!!!
Some people even went back for seconds.
(I was still trying to open my first set of crab legs!)
When the "fest" is finished there is nothing left but the...
S-H-E-L-L-S !
I personally can't wait for our next taste of crab. Apparently the
"crabbing season" is just beginning. My only comment to that is ...
WHERE CAN I GET A CRAB POT?
(and how do you use one?)

Our First Oregon Autumn!

Autumn is our favorite time of year and we are finding beauty all around us
here on the coast and inland too!

Yard sales, book sales and long walks are a few of our favorite fall pastimes.

This is our newest yard sale "find", a rustic coffee (Pero) table.

We went on a fast trip to Portland to see Sarah and her kids
while David was in Boston for the week.

It's too beautiful to spend the day inside!
Who says life can't be "just a walk in the park"?
Is she beautiful or what?

All girls love a day in the park.

We've always had "swingers" in the family!

Time at the Portland Temple is a wonderful way to spend an autumn morning.

The trip home was on roads filled with fall color!
Much more than we could capture from the car window!

Back home in Port Orford we found an October storm causing a raging sea. So beautiful!

A whole new perspective on Autumn!

Bandon by the Sea

Wish you were here already! Well, this is too funny! I put these pictures on my blog for Wendy to see. I was going to delete them before anyone else actually saw them. I guess people really do look at my blog more often than I realized.
We took a trip to Bandon to look at a house that our daughter Wendy is possibly going to rent. I just kept taking pictures of Bandon and here they are. I guess I will leave them on as a blog entry. All pictures of coastal towns are interresting. (Even if the house pictures are just f w i...for Wendy's information!)
This is called "Old Town Bandon". Great place for fish and chips! YUM!
Boys room?
Mari and Jasmine's room?
This room with the dolls is the bedroom (or office) off the living room.
These are both the master bedroom.
